How Do You Create A Movement?
Friday, November 19, 2010 at 10:56 There is a great deal of talk about “transformational change”. With it comes an expectation that individuals will lead this order of change.
Ultimately though “transformation” is not something one can control. It happens when the people we are accountable for start to act voluntarily and in concert. So all we can do is create circumstances in which this order of change is more likely to happen and then serve and support what follows.
Below are two video lectures that deconstruct aspects of this process. The first looks at communicating in a way that inspires motivation. The second looks at the process by which a movement is formed. Interstingly it identifies the crucial legitimising role of first follower.
Both video lectures come from the internationally respected think tank TED.
